BREAKDOWN: A New Musical
Unbalanced? Unhinged? Nuts? In a country that has clearly lost its mind, what do any of those words mean anymore?
Gather in Willard park for a timely and entertaining theatrical production that is “full of genuine pathos, good laughs, and an unabashed bleeding heart.”
The SF Mime Troupe’s storytelling tackles big topics like unsheltered living, the mental health crisis, and right-wing news media.
Synopsis—
For most of the citizens of increasingly intolerant San Francisco a young woman like Yume living on the streets seems “crazy,” but maybe Yume is just ahead of the curve. As her social worker tries to navigate the Kafkaesque labyrinth of city bureaucracy, Yume is on her own quest to regain what has been taken from her. Check out the trailer for “Breakdown.”
What the Press are Saying—
"We all need to see “Breakdown.” The Mime Troupe speaks hard truths with accomplished singers, great songs, and a superb group of musicians." —Theatrius
"Yes, the Mime Troupe preaches to the choir, but it also urges its loyal audience toward activism--in the most entertaining way possible.” —SF Gate

STRANGE WORLD
A likable tale of sons seeking their own identity amid their fathers' expectations, it's a superbly well-made film, with fabulous animation. So while it may feel glib, it says some important things about the interconnection of nature.
“Inspired by classic adventure stories," said director Don Hall, “‘Strange World’ is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences while exploring a strange, wondrous and oftentimes hostile world.”
